To sum it up...This is what has been going on...
This is what has been going on with the MTA. I took it to the media and this is the small blurb that I wrote to them.
and this is what I wrote to them..I am a current employee of the MTA NYC Transit. I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. I have a Disability that does not allow me to climb on the trains from the road bed (the Tracks). During my training to become a conductor, I was told that since I wasn’t able to climb on the train, I had to quit or I would be dismissed because of my disability. I called the Union (Local 100) and asked them what could be done. The Union came back and told me that the best they could do was give me a position as a stations cleaner. I took the position with much hesitation, and continued to try and fight it. I went to the Union again when my joints began to hurt from cleaning stations. I was told that they might be able to help me get a station agent position. After several weeks, I was told that it was a No go. Management said that since I never took the test, it wasn’t going to happen. I was demoted, my pay was cut, and I was placed in a position that has caused my problems all due to my disability. Last week, I was hospitalized for 6 days due to a bacterial infection that caused cellulitis in my legs that I was exposed to at work. I have had flare ups due to my fibromyalgia and I haven’t been feeling all that great since becoming a cleaner. During the time I was a conductor, I didn’t feel as horrible. I later came to find out that a new employee that has one arm was hired as a conductor and he can’t climb the train from the roadbed either. They were able to reasonably accommodate him by allowing him to meet his train in the station. They did not demote him and they did not reclassify him. I know that what they are doing is wrong and there has to be a way to fight for my civil rights.
More recently, my doctor put me on medical restriction and because of that, they are claiming that I cannot work until something for "medical restriction" becomes available. I have two kids to worry about and I can't do much of anything about it. It's almost like they want me to quit isn't it? Life has been really crazy and a lot of shit has gone on overall.
Well on to better news, my friend had her baby last week, A 7lb 6oz baby that was born by cesarean. Another unnecessarean I might add. All because the dumb doctor thought that mom needed to be induced because she scarringly was (OMG!) ONE day past her due date.
